The
Academy Pre-School
A
Snapshot Of Our School
The
Academy
Pre-School
is one of the most important and vital outreach ministries
initiated by Trinity Cathedral the Cathedral Church of the
Episcopal Diocese of New Jersey.
Trinity Cathedral and the
Academy Pre-School
are located in the historic
Berkeley Square
section of West Trenton, New Jersey. The Academy opened in 1965
as an Episcopal Day School for the Cathedral congregation and
local community. Its creation was the culmination of two
previous Cathedral Deans The Very Reverends Frederick Adams
and Lloyd Chattin. Dean Adams generously provided the funds for
the construction of an education wing to house a church school
and a day school.
Trinity Cathedral Academy
evolved into a small, private, faith-based elementary school,
and had been providing educational programs to Trenton area
children through its two strands: a Pre-School Program
for three-and four-year olds and a kindergarten through sixth
grade Day School.
The
Elementary
Day School
program prepared students from the greater
Trenton
area for academic excellence by educating and nurturing the
whole child based on the Episcopal Christian tradition.
Unfortunately, declining enrollment and financial strain forced
the closing of the elementary program in June 2007.
In 2000, Trinity Cathedral Academy joined with the
Trenton Public School District and the NJ State Department of
Education to become a community provider of a high-quality,
full-day, full-year Abbott Pre-School Program. It has
now evolved into a no-cost Abbott program for 3 and 4 year old
children. It is completely funded through the school district.
All students attend tuition free.
A staff of more than ten professional and support personnel
provide daily instruction and other services.
MISSION:
The mission of The
Academy Pre-School
is to offer opportunities for area children to:
achieve their fullest potential
respect the dignity and rights of others
develop into positive learners and leaders
contribute to the well-being of our school community
Further, we aim to create an atmosphere where parents, students,
staff and community will work together for the betterment and
benefit of all.
