Youth Group

Picture
Since shifting to a virtual platform the spiritual engagement and development of the youth remains an important part of the work at the Cathedral. The Trinity Cathedral Youth Group, under the leadership of Sharon Scipio, works concurrently with Sunday School members to ensure all children have a way to stay connected. We too have adapted, and use various mechanisms to support the youth though these joint ministries. Some of the measures include sending our youth and their parents encouraging text messages that contain scripture and related reflections, to sharing youth and family programming, or TED talks, on important social justice issues.

While Family Sundays are also virtual, our youth continue to serve a critical role in the worship service by serving as lectors. Outside of service youth gather virtually to develop and prepare for special presentations to the Cathedral (Christmas, Black History Month, Women’s History, etc.).  These presentations are not only a way for our youth to share their gifts with the Cathedral; through these initiatives we are able to keep them connected to one another and God’s word.

If you would like your child to be involved in this ministry, please speak with Dean John, Sharon Scipio or a member of the vestry.

We also welcome members of the congregation who would like to teach or assist, or perhaps share a special interest or talent, to contact us!

An Invitation from our Youth Group:

Dear Members;

We are excited about our youth ministry and working with the youth in our church community. We acknowledge that we can only be successful in providing our young people with a solid Christian foundation by partnering with YOU, the parents in the church community! We are looking forward to fellowshipping with our youth while learning about God, and serving one another, and community, in a safe and loving environment - and we can only accomplish this with your support.

If you are interested, please feel free to contact Sharon Scipio or Althia Muse for further information regarding this ministry. Thank you in advance for all your love and support for we could not do this without it.

Sincerely yours,

Sharon Scipio (sharonscipio@verizon.net)
Althia Muse (althiamuse@yahoo.com)

You Group meetings are typically held on the last Sunday of each month, immediately following the 10:30 am Mass (10:00 am Mass during summer.) Like much of our church activities, we have gone virtual for the time being. All youth grades 6-12 are welcome to join us. Come, join us, and meet new people and make new acquaintances.
